CCNY Athletic Department Announces New Coaches
NEW YORK, NY - The City College of New York Department of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreational Sports has several additions to its staff for the 2007-08 academic year, announced Director of Athletics Jackee Meadow.
"We're excited to welcome all new staff members to CCNY," said Meadow. "I am extremely confident in their abilities to provide the leadership, experience and creativity necessary for success and we look forward to the significant contributions we expect each one of them to make as we continue to grow as an athletic department."
TONY TORAL - HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH
Mr. Toral brings to the CCNY program his extensive soccer experience having partaken in numerous soccer leagues, organizations, and teams. For the past 2 years he served as assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Hunter College. He has also held director, coordinator and coaching positions for several organizations and leagues. For the 2007 Nike 5v5 Summer Tournament he served as the league director, coordinating the marketing aspects of the league. As Head Coach of the US AMF Futsal National Team he lead the team to the 2007 World Cup qualifying tournament in Mexico City this past May. Other league teams he has been involved with include Super Soccer Stars, N.Y. Ecuador Football, Futsal, Beach Soccer and Footvolley Inc., and Nike Joga Bonito Tournament. Toral earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
KRISHNA DASS - HEAD WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL COACH
Dass comes to CCNY with vast CUNYAC volleyball experience. From 2002 until 2005 she headed the Baruch College Women’s Volleyball Program, guiding the Bearcats to their first championship (2005) in 10 years. While at Baruch she was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005. Previous to Baruch Dass served as Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at her alma mater, Hunter College, for four years (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000). Dass also has extensive camps and clinics knowledge having worked in various NCAA National youth Sports camps, NCAA Yes clinics, and the Nike Volleyball camp. Dass has also held Athletic Administrative positions at Hunter College and at Baruch. At Hunter she was an assistant to the Athletic Recreation & Intramural Program, where she coordinated travel and accommodations for 20 athletic teams and assisted with rental contracts and accounts. For the Baruch Athletic Program she served as Fitness Program Director, NCAA Compliance Officer, and SWA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a concentration in Physical Education from Hunter College.
DA-LAI WU - HEAD MEN’S & WOMEN’S TENNIS COACH
Wu joins the CCNY Athletics Department with thirty years of playing and coaching experience. His many duties as tennis professional have included head coach, player management, tennis director and tournament director. He has held coaching positions at the College of Mount St. Vincent, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and SUNY Old Westbury. He also has extensive experience with indoor/outdoor tennis clubs and camps. Many of which include Tennis Director and Head Coach at Meadowlands Tennis Club in Carlstadt, NJ, Tennis Director at Camp Robin Hood in New Hampshire, Tennis Director at the Future Stars Great Neck Tennis Club in Great Neck, NY. The University of Bridgeport graduate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design.
ROBERTO IGNACCOLO - HEAD MEN’S SOCCER COACH
Ignaccolo brings over 20 years of soccer experience to the CCNY Men’s Program. He started his soccer career as a player for the University of Cincinnati, a Division I program. Most recently he served as Assistant Coach for the Montclair State University Soccer Program since 1996, where in 3 out of 10 seasons they made NCAA appearances including the round of sixteen. From 1991 until 1995 he held the Assistant Coach position for Men’s Soccer at Ramapo College of New Jersey. While at Ramapo he also founded and took on as Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer Program in 1993. Ignaccolo also takes part in various soccer organizations and leagues including; the New Jersey Soccer Association, Champions League Soccer, and the Real Wyckoff International Soccer League.
