CCNY AND BMCC SOCCER AWARDED FOR SPORTSMANSHIP

The New York Metro Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NYMISOA) held its Fifth Annual Awards Dinner on November 16 at the Sterling in Bethpage, N.Y., and honored the men’s program at City College of New York (CCNY) and the women’s program at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) for displaying the most sportsmanship during the 2009 season.  CCNY received the award for senior colleges, while BMCC received the award for the junior colleges.

The awards were voted on by the NYMISOA membership. The organization is comprised of officials and assignors of collegiate soccer games in the tri-state area.

The CCNY Beavers finished with a 4-12-2 record on the season, eventually falling in the first round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship.

"CCNY has players from 16 different countries on their team," commented Randy Vogt, Vice President of the NYMISOA. "It certainly works for them, as our members selected CCNY for their outstanding sportsmanship."

The Panthers finished a 1-6 on the season. The BMCC men's soccer team has earned the sportsmanship award three times previously. This is the first time that their women's team claimed the award.
