Amidst an eight-game winning streak,
Staten Island's (14-5, 3-0 CUNYAC) longest in 13 years, Devon DiCasoli had a superb week, batting .727 to lead the Dolphins to three non-conference wins. The senior infielder who is on a 13-game hitting streak (and stands second on CSI's all-time stolen bases list) went 8-11 from the plate; he also had two walks for a .769 on base percentage. The Moore Catholic product also drove in three runs, scored four runs and added a double, a homer and a stolen base as the inclement weather limited CSI to just three games last week. On the season, DiCasoli is batting .419 and scoring 1.3 runs per game for the first-place Dolphins.

 
 
 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Casey Mulligan

College of Staten Island
Sophomore / Pitcher / Monsignor Farrell HS / Staten Island, NY


Casey Mulligan started the second game of
CSI's doubleheader with SUNY-Maritime and pitched a shutout for six innings and picking up the team's eighth straight victory in the process. In the lone start of the week, the sophomore by way of Monsignor Farrell HS limited Maritime to only four hits and two walks, while striking out four batters over his six frames. On the season, Mulligan sports a 2-0 mark and a 1.38 earned run average in 13 innings of work. This weekend the Dolphins will battle John Jay in a trio of CUNYAC contests.

 
 
 

Baseball Rookie of the Week

Peter Dinolfo

Freshman / Outfield / Monsignor Farrell HS / Staten Island, NY


A high school teammate of Mulligan at Staten Island's Monsignor Farrell High School, Peter Dinolfo went 2-3 from the plate, scored two runs, brought in one run, with two doubles and two walks in a non-conference loss to SUNY-Old Westbury. He followed that by going 1-4 from the plate scoring three run and drawing three walks in a win over NYU-Poly. For the week, the rightfielder was 3-7 from the plate, for .429 hitting percentage, with five runs scored, two doubles and five walks.
