Baruch College • Senior / Middle Blocker / Aquinas HS / Bronx, NY
For the second straight week, Baruch senior middle blocker Christina Pierre put away the CUNYAC Player of the Week award. Pierre led the Bearcats last week to a 2-1 record that featured 3-0 sweeps against CUNYAC's York College and NJAC's New Jersey City University and a five-set defeat versus rival Hunter College at the CUNYAC multi-match event at York this past Saturday. Against NJCU, Pierre totaled 13 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .750. She followed that up in Saturday’s CUNYAC Multi-Match with a 17 kills against rival Hunter College and four kills against York . For the week, in 11 games, the Bronx native had 35 kills, five blocks and hit at an amazing .508 clip.

Brooklyn College freshman Amanda Fiore earns Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending September 12th. Fiore helped guide the Bulldogs to a 3-0 start to the 2010 season, posting a team-best 59 assists, to go along with a team-leading 16 service aces. She recorded 29 assists and seven aces in a 3-1 season opening win over Purchase College on September 7th and then racked up 25 assists in a win over CUNYAC rival Medgar Evers College on September 11th. Fiore and the Bulldogs will return to the court on Tuesday night for a CUNYAC contest against John Jay.
