CUNYAC/Con Edison Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

GERRI-ANN MARTIN, Lehman
Outside Hitter/Senior/ Bronx, NY/JFK

The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced on Monday that Lehman senior Gerri-Ann Martin has been named the CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the period spanning to September 26 through October 2. 

Over that span Martin led the team to three wins without surrendering a single game, including a conference victory over Medgar Evers, which ran the Lightning’s current win streak to five games and upped its record to 6-6 on the season.  The two-time CUNYAC All-Star totaled 26 kills and 26 digs, including a 13-kill, nine-dig match against St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn).

CUNYAC/Con Edison Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

JESSICA WU, Baruch

Outside Hitter/Freshman/Cerritos, CA/Cerritos

Jessica Wu earns her fourth CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Honor.

Wu had another solid effort for the Bearcats as the team competed this past weekend at the Ducks Invitational hosted by Stevens Tech in Hoboken, New Jersey. She began by notching 20 kills and 16 digs in a four set win over NYU-Poly. Wu followed that up with nine kills and 12 digs against #19-ranked SUNY-Cortland, along with eight kills and three services aces against NJAC power Richard Stockton.
