CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

The Bearcats continue to remain undefeated in CUNYAC play with the help of this week’s CUNYAC/Applebee’s women’s swimming athlete of the week Alyssa Lubrino. In Baruch’s lone meet of the week, the junior registered three top place finishes aiding in the 60-35 victory over conference rival Hunter (Jan. 6). Lubrino along with teammates Julia Sung, Apolonia Cieslak, and Jacqueline Smith went on to place first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.81. The Staten Island native went to garner two first place individual finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (26.41) and 100-yard freestyle (57.92).
CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Swimming Rookie of the Week

Baruch’s Denisse Duran Llano earns top rookie honors of the week following three first place finishes in the Bearcats’ win over the Hawks (Jan. 6). The freshman from the Dominican Republic registered the first of her three first place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:08.45. Llano went on to be the first to touch the wall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:53.34. In her third first place finish of the week the rookie, along with teammates Sally Lim, Jessica Lin and Apolonia Cieslak finished the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:51.11. The Bearcats’ women’s swimming and diving team will return to action January 9 to face off against conference opponent Lehman College.
