CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Andrianna Martinez has been named the first CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for the 2012-2013 season. Her week featured just one meet but it was an impressive beginning to her intercolligate career. Against William Paterson, the rookie broke the freshman school record for the 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:13.83 as she won the event. Martinez also swam in the 200m medley relay with a time of 2:14.87 which was good for another victory. Her day came to an end with another victory as she swam a 2:00.27 in the 200m free relay. Overall, the Bearcat won all three of her events as Baruch took down William Patterson 116-89.
CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women’s Swimming Rookie of the Week
Dakota Dawkins, Staten Island
Freshman/Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea
Dakota Dawkins has been named the first CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women’s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the 2012-2013 season. In one meet this week, the freshman competed in three events to help the Dolphins defeat the Hunter Hawks 119-116. Dawkins began with the 200 Medley Relay with teammates Pifalo, Ragnanan, and Vivas as she swam a 2:11.36 to grab first. In the 100m breaststroke, she again took first place with a time of 1:17.47. The time put her 10 full seconds faster than the next closest swimmer. She finished out her day as part of a second place 200m freestyle relay with teammates Stergiuola, Collyer, and Lei in which she swam 2:06.65.
