Baruch's Daly, CSI's Anderson & John Jay's Montanez Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

CUNYAC/MCU Baseball Player of the Week

THOMAS DALY, Baruch

Pitcher-Infielder-Outfielder/Senior/Valley Stream, NY/Kellenberg

For the week Thomas Daly totaled eight RBI’s, had five runs scored with a .429 batting average in the Bearcats’ 2-2 week. Against St. Joseph’s, Daly went 1 for 3 from the plate, totaling two RBI’s in the 9-2 loss. He followed that performance batting 2 for 4 with a grand slam, totaling five RBI’s and scoring two runs in rout to a victory over Yeshiva. In the second game of the doubleheader against Yeshiva, the senior went 2 for 3 from the plate, scoring two runs in a come-from-behind victory. The Baruch baseball team returns to action Tuesday afternoon where they are set to face off FDU-Florham in a nonconference single game.


CUNYAC/MCU Baseball Pitcher of the Week

RICHARD ANDERSON, Staten Island

Pitcher/Junior/Staten Island, NY/Tottenville

Richard Anderson is named CUNYAC/MCU Baseball Pitcher of the week after throwing a 1-hit gem in the Dolphins’ first of two wins of the week. In the 4-0 win over Purchase State, Anderson threw a complete game shutout, compiling five strikeouts while allowing just one hit over his seven innings of work. With the outing, Anderson registered his second shutout of the season. The junior and the rest of the Dolphins’ baseball team are set to compete next against Kean University on Tuesday afternoon.

 

CUNYAC/MCU Baseball Rookie of the Week

EDDIE MONTANEZ, John Jay

Infield/Freshman/Staten Island, NY/Bishop Ford

Rookie of the week Eddie Montanez went 4 for 11 with five RBI’s and four runs with two extra base hits and four walks. The freshman began the week going 2-for-4 with an RBI against New Jersey City University. The following day Montanez scored twice and drove in two while picking up two base on balls in losing effort against William Patterson. In the first game of the doubleheader against Lehman the infielder did a little of everything as he went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Montanez finished out the week picking up an RBI and a run scored in the Bloodhounds’ sole victory of the week over Lehman.
