Tony Vails has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the weeks of 12/17 – 1/6 after two strong performances. The guard averaged 22.5 points, five rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 blocks and one steal. The senior went 62.5% from the field, shooting 15-24. In a close 82-81 win over John Jay, the Brooklyn native shot 70% and recorded 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. This is the third time Vails has won this award during the 2012-2013 season.
 
CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Raymond De La Cruz, Baruch
Guard/Freshman/Bronx, NY/All Hollows
Raymond De La Cruz has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the weeks of 12/17 – 1/6. The Bronx native averaged 13 points, 3.7 rebounds, two assists, 1.7 steals and 0.3 blocks in 33 minutes of play. The freshman shot a perfect 100% from the free-throw line and went 5-15 from behind the arc. In a 67-63 win over St. John’s Fisher College, the guard scored 16 points, recorded seven rebounds, three assists and one block.
