Final Team Scores
The 2013 CUNYAC/US Army Indoor Track and Field Championships were held at The New Balance Track and Field Center in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The field was strong with two records being broken by community college athletes and strong times, heights, and distances that emphasized the quality of talent. Queensborough was looking to defend its titles once again and were successful in doing so. On the men’s side, Queensborough finished with 80 points while Kingsborough finished with 40 points and Bronx ended up at 20 points. On the women’s side, Queensborough finished with 116 points while Kingsborough finished with 98 points and Bronx ended up at 6 points.
In the Men’s Distance Medley Relay, Queensborough ‘A’ finished first overall with a time of 11:15.75.
Third place overall in the Men’s 1 Mile Run was taken by Kevin Lopez of Queensborough at 4:48.48.
In the Men’s 5000 Meter Run, Zachary Merced from Queensborough finished first overall at 17:05.05.
The Men’s 400 Meter Dash was won overall by All-American Kester Chase of Kingsborough with a time of 48.66 while second overall was awarded to Jovanni Parkinson from Queensborough at 49.68. On the women’s side Kingsborough’s Daverly Beazer finished third overall with a time of 1:02.14.
Men’s 800 Meter Run action had Kingsborough’s Kerone White finished in 1:58.36 to place second overall.
In the Men’s 60 Meter Hurdles, Amin Garcia from Kingsborough finished first overall with a time of 8.39 seconds. The mark sets a new conference record. On the women’s side, Addishia Dixon from Kingsborough finished second overall at 9.46 seconds.
Men’s 200 Meter Dash action had Michael Camacho and Kester Chase of Kingsborough would finish second and third overall at 22.48 and 22.51, respectively.
In the final track event, the Men’s 4x400 Meter Dash, Queensborough ‘A’ finished first overall at 3:27.02.
In the field events, Alex Roach from Queensborough placed second overall in the Men’s Long Jump with a distance of 6.29 meters.
Men’s Triple Jump saw another podium finish by Amin Garcia of Kingsborough who nabbed third overall with a distance of 13.97 meters.
First overall in the Women’s Weight Throw went to Naomi Hines from Bronx Community College at an astounding 17.01 meters. The distance broke her record from the year prior.
Women’s Shot Put would see another gold medal for Bronx’s Hines as she threw for 11.78 meters to take the overall first.
