Hunter's Martinez and Baruch's Standring Take Home Weekly Honors

CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week 
Stanley Martinez, Hunter
Setter/Sophomore/Bay Shore, NY/Cardozo

Stanley Martinez has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of 3/4 – 3/10. In three Hunter matches, the setter averaged 1.90 kills, 7.20 assists, 0.40 aces, 1.10 digs and 0.60 blocks per set in 10 games. In a win against CUNY rival John Jay, the sophomore registered 12 kills, 17 assists, three aces, five digs and one block while hitting 64.7%. The Bay Shore native followed this performance in a win against Mount Ida, recording 27 assists, six kills, three digs and four blocks while hitting 36.4%. For the week, Martinez had an impressive hitting percentage of 51.6%. Hunter went 2-1 and improved its CUNYAC season record to 6-1. This is the second straight week and third time this season Martinez has won this award. 
 
CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week 
Scott Standring, Baruch
Setter/Freshman/Moraga, CA/Campolindo

Scott Standring has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week of 3/4 – 3/10. The freshman averaged 8.88 assists, 0.25 kills, 0.38 aces, 0.75 digs and 0.12 blocks in three wins for the Bearcats. In a thrilling four set victory over York, the setter notched 47 assists while hitting 33.3%. The California native then tallied 17 assists in a match against #2 ranked Springfield. In a 3-0 win over Mount Ida, Standring recorded seven assists and one dig in one sec of action. This is the third time this season he has won this award.
