Bulldogs' Campbell and Baruch's Kuruvilla Net Weekly Accolades

Brooklyn’s Megan Campbell  has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 1/27 to 2/3. The senior forward helped lead the Brooklyn College women’s basketball team to a perfect 3-0 week with wins over conference foes Medgar Evers College and Lehman College, and also a victory against non-conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College (NY), where she averaged a double-double on the week. Starting in all three games, Campbell averaged 17.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Against Mt. St. Mary (NY), Campbell finished with 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. The Bulldog scored 19 points against both Medgar Evers and Lehman.

Baruch’s Ashika Kuruvilla has been named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of 1/27 to 2/3. The Bearcat rookie scored a career-high 13 points, pulled down nine rebounds and swatted 3 blocks in a win over CSI. For the week, Kuruvilla averaged 9 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.

Ten different players scored at least five points to hand the Bearcats an 80-30 home victory over the Cardinals of York College. The team totaled 25 assists (31 baskets in game) with Iyana Abrams dishing out seven and Kiara Johnson five. Abrams also had eight steals and Kristen Podlovits notched four. In their second game of the week Bearcats used solid defense to score 39 points off 28 turnovers to hand the Dolphins their first conference loss of the season. The Bearcats will return home to the ARC Arena on Monday, February 3, at 5:30 pm, for a CUNYAC contest against Brooklyn College.

The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team registered a perfect 3-0 week with wins over conference foes Medgar Evers College and Lehman College, as non-conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College (NY). The Bulldogs will have a pair of huge CUNYAC games this week, as BC visits Baruch College (2/3) and Hunter College (2/7).

The Hawks won their fourth straight conference game against CCNY on Friday, making them 7-5 in CUNYAC play.

Lehman dropped its only game last week, at CUNYAC power Brooklyn College. This week, the team will host Staten Island on Tuesday, in a game that was moved from Monday due to snow. On Thursday, Lehman heads to face Baruch in the Battle of Lexington.

The Women's Basketball Cougars fell to borough and conference rival Brooklyn College Bulldogs on Wednesday Jan. 29, 71-31.
