CUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Lorenzo Williams, Brooklyn
Forward/Junior/Brooklyn, NY/South Shore
Lorenzo Williams has been named the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 1/5/15 - 1/11/15. This marks his first Player of the Week honor this year. Williams notched three double-doubles in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs. During a 75-63 win over York, the Brooklyn native posted 27 points and 13 rebounds in the win while shooting .692 from the field. Following that up, the forward scored 17 while pulling down 11 rebounds during an 85-79 win over St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). The South Shore product concluded his week against Baruch with a near triple-double at 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Overall for the week, Williams averaged 21.0 points on 49.0% (24-for-49) shooting from the field and 78.9% (15-for-19) shooting from the free throw line, 12.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Bryler Paige has been named the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of 1/5/15 - 1/11/15. This marks his first honor and breaks a streak of six consecutive awards held by his teammate Chimaechi Ekekeugbor. In a 77-54 win over John Jay, the rookie scored a career-high 16 points with five rebounds and four assists. He followed that up with four assists and three rebounds during a vital 85-74 win over Brooklyn. The Bearcats are off to an outstanding start at 9-3 overall and 6-0 in CUNYAC.

John Jay Bloodhounds (2-12 Overall, 1-5 CUNYAC)

The Bloodhounds went 0-2 for the week, including 0-1 in the conference. John Jay lost to Baruch, 77-54, and then fell to Manhattanville, 83-73.
Staten Island Dolphins (7-5 Overall, 4-2 CUNYAC)

CSI split their games this past week. This week they are busy, hosting FDU-Florham on Monday, York College on Wednesday, and Medgar Evers on Saturday. The CSI Men's Basketball team will also celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday, and will feature an Alumnni Game at 11am, prior to CSI Men's 1pm tip with the Cougars.
Lehman Lighting (9-5 Overall, 4-2 CUNYAC)

The Lightning earned a key CUNY Athletic Conference victory over CSI, 95-73, in their only game of the week, this past Friday evening. Lehman is now 9-5 overall, and 4-2 in CUNYAC play. The Lightning will travel on the road to play their final non-conference game of the year, against Rutgers-Camden, on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
Medgar Evers Cougars (1-12 Overall, 0-6 CUNYAC)

The Men's Basketball team went 0-2 this week. On Tuesday Jan. 6, 2015, the Cougar fell to the Hunter College Hawks 75-59. On Friday Jan. 9, 2015, the Cougars fell to the City College Beavers 65-64.
Baruch Bearcats (9-3 Overall, 6-0 CUNYAC)

Baruch played two game this week against conference opponents. Earlier in the week they defeated John Jay by the score of 77-54. They stayed undefeated in conference play after defeating Brooklyn College during the weekend. The Bearcats will resume action on Monday, January 12, with a 7:30 pm home contest against The College of New Jersey.
Hunter Hawks (6-7 Overall, 3-3 CUNYAC)

The Hunter men's basketball team went 1-1 last week, splitting two CUNYAC games against Medgar Evers and York College. Against Medgar, four Hawks reached double-figures in the teams 75-59 win. On Friday against York, the Hawks struggled offensively managing only 12 first half points, in a 64-51 loss. This week the Hawks will play against NYU on Monday, Brooklyn College on Wednesday and Lehman College on Friday.
Brooklyn Bulldogs (10-2 Overall, 4-1 CUNYAC)

The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team posted a 2-1 record this past week picking up wins against both York College and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), while falling to Baruch College. The Bulldogs have a pair of games this week, as Brooklyn will host both Hunter College (1/14) and Keystone College (1/17).
CCNY Beavers (5-8 Overall, 1-6 CUNYAC)
Last Week (1-1 Overall, 1-1 CUNYAC)
CCNY rallied to defeat Medgar Evers on Friday for their first CUNYAC win of the season. Down 12 with 7:08 left, the Beavers used timely defense and free throw shooting to go on a 15-4 run, tying the game off a three-pointer by sophomore David Solano with 3:01 remaining. Down by one with 1:04 remaining, CCNY sophomore Khalil Hamer buried two free throws to put his team up 63-62, their first lead of the half. Seconds later, Solano stole the ball and fed senior Anthony Lewis for a layup to put City up three. Medgar Evers made two free throws with 37 ticks left to pull to within one, then fouled with 17 seconds remaining. Hamer missed both free throws to give the Cougars a chance to win, but CCNY junior Saleh Nasser blocked a layup with three seconds left and a buzzer-beating jumper by Medgar at the horn wouldn't fall as City escaped with the victory.
York Cardinals (9-4 Overall, 4-2 CUNYAC)

York fell to Brooklyn College to start the week but rebounded nicely in an impressive victory over Hunter College on Friday. York continued to play well at home, improving to 13-2 since the beginning of the 2013-14 season.
This week, York faces off with Staten Island in a rematch of last year's CUNYAC title game on the road Wednesday. They will host John Jay College at home on Friday.
