Nick Delprete, Staten Island

Nick Delprete has been named the CUNYAC/MCU Men’s Baseball Player of the Week for the week of 3/23 - 3/29. Delprete’s batting average was .636 for the week, providing a spark for the Dolphins lineup as the junior collected seven hits in eleven at-bats. On Sunday, Staten Island split the doubleheader against the Baruch Bearcats, winning the first game by a score of 8-3. In that game, Delprete went 3-for-4 from the plate with a triple and three runs batted in. He went 7-for-11 with three RBI, two triples and two runs scored during the week.

Cameron Kitt has been named the CUNYAC/MCU Men’s Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of 3/23 - 3/29. In Kitt’s outing for the Bearcats, the sophomore only allowed two earned runs during his seven and two-thirds innings of work. The pitcher displayed his command of the strike zone by striking out 12 Rutgers-Newark batters and only allowing four hits as he picked up the win for Baruch.

CUNYAC/MCU Baseball Rookie of the Week
Miguel Rodriguez, Lehman

Miguel Rodriguez has been named the CUNYAC/MCU Men’s Baseball Rookie of the Week for the week of 3/23 - 3/29. Rodriguez had a solid week for the Lightning as he contributed to Lehman’s 2-1 record in their last three games. The rookie batted .326 with six runs batted in and four runs scored. In the Lightning’s 8-2 win over NJCU on Wednesday, Rodriguez collected two hits and two RBI’s while scoring twice. During game one of Friday’s doubleheader against St. Joseph’s, Rodriguez lead the Lightning with a three-run home run in what would be a losing effort for Lehman. However, later in the day, Rodriguez would produce another base hit, RBI, and run scored to allow Lehman to split the doubleheader with St. Joseph’s in a 8-7 victory.

The Lightning went 2-1 this week, defeating NJCU 8-2, and splitting a doubleheader with St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn. The Lightning will travel to Purchase, N.Y. to battle Manhattanville, on Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m.

John Jay Bloodhounds (0-6 Overall, 0-2 CUNYAC)

The Bloodhounds went 0-3 for the week and 0-2 in the CUNYAC. John Jay fell to Rutgers-Newark and then was swept by CCNY in their first two conference games of the season.

Staten Island Dolphins (3-6 Overall, 1-1 CUNYAC)

CSI had plenty of baseball washed away but did get in three games, going 1-2, breaking a five-game skid with an 8-3 win over Baruch on Sunday. This week, CSI has a non-conference doubleheader against John Jay on Monday, a single game against Kean University on Tuesday, a doubleheader against Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday and doubleheader against Lehman College on Saturday.

CCNY Beavers (5-2 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-1 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC)

The Beavers of CCNY are in first place in the CUNYAC, thanks to a two game sweep over John Jay College on Friday at Baseball Heaven. Starting pitching continues to give the team an advantage, and Kennedy Tavarez has emerged as a force in the middle of the lineup.

Baruch Bearcats (5-11 Overall, 1-1 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-2 Overall, 1-1 CUNYAC)

The Bearcats went 2-2 on the week, including 1-1 in CUNYAC play, for a solid week that helped end a six-game losing streak.
