CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Ievgeniia Kostenko
Sophomore/Ukraine/Ukraine

Ievgeniia Kostenko has been named the CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of 9/7-9/13. The sophomore, who transferred from ASA, went a perfect 2-0 in #1 singles on the week, as well as 2-0 at #1 doubles. The sophomore paired with senior Suraya Maenhout to be perfect in doubles this week. Kostenko helped earn 4 of her team’s 6 points on the week as they went 0-2 as a team.

CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Isabel Arias, Baruch
Freshman/Woodbury, NY/Monroe-Woodbury

Isabel Arias has been named the CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week of 9/7-9/13. Arias continues to show she is one of the best players on her team and one of the rising stars in CUNYAC. She easily won her singles/doubles matches versus both Pratt and Purchase. At #4 singles against Pratt, she defeated Neeka Gilardian 6-1, 6-1 and followed that up by a #3 singles victory against Purchase. After being victorious at #2 doubles against Pratt, she got moved to the first flight against Purchase and emerged on top once again. She finished the week 2-0 in both singles and doubles competition this week.

CSI had their CUNYAC opener against Brooklyn postponed due to rain on Thursday and so their only match was Saturday, a 9-0 win over RU-Newark.

The Bearcats are off to one of their best starts of 3-0 thus far. last week, they avenged a loss last season to Pratt with a convincing 8-1 win. They followed it up ending a several year losing streak to Purchase.

The Lightning earned a key CUNYAC win, 6-3, over the Bloodhounds of John Jay. Lehman is now 1-1 both overall and in the conference. The Lightning will battle Purchase on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., on the APEX Tennis Courts.

BC went 1-1 on the week, defeating John Jay in the season opener, 9-0, before falling to Farmingdale, 6-3 at home.  Ievgeniia Kostenko was 2-0 in her first two #1 singles matches with the team, while pairing with Suraya Maenhout to go 2-0 at #1 doubles as well.
