CUNYAC/Army ROTC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Amely Del Rosario has been named the CUNYAC/Army ROTC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 1/11-1/18. Del Rosario struck for the Lighting, leading Lehman with 27 points, 6 assists and 4 steals over the Hunter Hawks . Although, the Lighting failed to tame the Bearcats, this Bronx native, added team high, 19 points, 4 assists and 8 steals in a noteworthy attempt. Del Rosario averaged 23 points, 5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 6 steals for the week.
CUNYAC/Army ROTC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Jade Aponte, Hunter
Guard/Freshman/Baldin, NY/Baldin
Jade Aponte has been named the CUNYAC/Army ROTC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of 1/11-1/18. The freshman started and played in all three games for the Hawks and averaged 13 points, including a 19 point performance against Lehman. She made 14 total field goals and of them, nine were for three points.

CCNY started their week off with a win over non-conference opponent USMMA. Then they continued their winning-streak with a huge win over Baruch. The Beavers had a 31-game losing streak against Baruch going into the game. This week, the Beavers travel to face Brooklyn and then face York at home on Friday.
John Jay Bloodhounds (3-9 Overall, 2-7 CUNYAC)

The Bloodhounds went 1-2 for the week in three conference games. John Jay fell to Baruch, 61-39, and Medgar Evers College, 68-51. The Bloodhounds defeated York, 48-40.

The Lady Cougars were 1-1 this past week, earning their first win in the conference with a 68-51 win against John Jay January 13th. They then fell to Staten Island at home on January 15th.
CSI Dolphins (10-6 Overall, 6-2 CUNYAC)

CSI went 2-0 this week and are back near the top of the CUNY with a 6-2 overall record. CSI has Hunter College this week and then will face the College of New Rochelle on Saturday as part of non-conference play.

The Lightning split games this week. Lehman dropped a mid-week tilt at Baruch 94-55. Two days later Lehman got back on the winning track defeating Hunter 74-64. Lehman is back in action on Wednesday night as they host John Jay.

The Hawks dropped two home contests to NYU (58-31) and Brooklyn College (67-54) and then fell on the road to Lehman College (74-64). The duo of Jade Aponte and Widly Couloute averaged a combined 25 ppg.
Brooklyn Bulldogs (12-4 Overall, 8-0 CUNYAC)

The Bulldogs finished the week with a 2-0 record including a CUNYAC victory at Hunter to remain undefeated in the conference (8-0). BC will start their second round of CUNYAC regular season contests this week. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs will host CCNY and on Friday will travel to John Jay.
York Cardinals (3-13 Overall, 1-7 CUNYAC)

York lost two games this week, falling to Staten Island on Wednesday and John Jay College on Friday. Despite the two losses, Jigcara Grant grabbed 23 rebounds in each game and now leads the nation in rebounding (17.8 per game).
This week, York visits Medgar Evers College and CCNY on Wednesday and Friday respectively.
